Wendy Erskine of Eden Textiles Studio is a fibre artist, felt maker and workshop tutor based in the beautiful landscape of Dumfries & Galloway. Working from her studio surrounded by her flock of sheep, Wendy creates hand-felted rugs, woven pieces and textile art using natural wool sourced from her own animals and local fleeces.

Her work follows the full journey of wool — from sheep to finished textile — including shearing, washing, carding, spinning, weaving and felting. Her flock of Icelandic, Herdwick and Jacob sheep inspires the texture, colour and character of her work, grounding each piece in place and landscape.

Wendy is also the founder of the Eden Wool Gathering, bringing together artists, makers and wool enthusiasts to celebrate fibre arts, rare breeds and traditional craft in Scotland. Through her workshops, she shares skills in felting, weaving and fleece preparation, offering visitors the chance to meet the sheep and reconnect with the rhythm of rural craft.

Wendy’s path into wool has also been deeply personal. After being diagnosed with cancer, she is now in her fourth year of remission. During this time, working with wool and caring for her flock became an important part of her recovery and wellbeing — a source of grounding, focus and healing.

In recognition of this journey, Wendy donates all proceeds from the Eden Wool Gathering to support the Stranraer Cancer Drop-In Centre, helping others affected by cancer in her local community.

Her teaching is warm, welcoming and hands-on, encouraging people of all abilities to explore natural fibres in a relaxed rural setting. Wendy’s work reflects resilience, connection to nature, and the quiet strength found in craft, community and landscape.
